I worked on the Automotive Material Pack / Car Configurator project at Nvidia. I was in charge of the Car model and material setups for exterior and interior. Like all projects this was done by many great artists and developers below are the credits. Environments were mainly created by Joshua Bapst and lighting by Max Bickley. We received the model in cad data which was converted over from nurbs to polys to later be reduced, Terry Mosier and Kevin Newkirk helped clean up UVs. Many hands went in this for the logic on the car config.

Also this is rendered in real time using the Nvidia tool Composer and also has path traced renders from same tool. The tool has been great to use, and it is building up to be a really interesting tool for bringing many forms of vfx to game data into it to render.

We are in the process of releasing an automotive material pack which will include all 50+ materials for use in Composer. But if you want to go deeper all the substance designer files have been included and organized. We created this material pack mainly for internal use but found the use of it so useful that we are giving it out to the community for free. For the automotive material pack, we also had to make a brand-new material that was made specifically for layering several materials via mask generation to be able to do all kinds of layering within composer. The shader also will release with the pack and has become a shader we are using for not just automotive but other assets because of its flexibility in use. Credits and huge props go to Chris Perrella.
